All About Ishmael
Ishmael is a book by Daniel Quinn that was read
by
members of Pearl Jam during the making of Yield.
Since the band was influenced by this book when
they wrote songs in Yield,
I wanted to check it out.
I bought it, read it and LOVED it!
The book tells of a gorrila named Ishmael,
who teaches a human being about our world.
It touches many interesting anthropological, biological,
sociological and philosophical subjects.
This book gets you thinking about Humanity, the
World, Life and Culture.
There's a lot of information and theories in 'Ishmael'.
After reading it, I've read its sequels 'MY Ishmael'
and 'The Story of B'
by Daniel Quinn.
I loved them as much as I loved 'Ishmael'.
Later I read Quinn's 'Beyond Civilization' which is
a text book rather than a novel.
I've also seen the movie 'Instinct' which was based on the book
with Anthony Hopkins and Cuba Downing Jr.
It's a Really good movie, in my opinion.
